Royal Court

The sitting Baron or Baroness is the head of the barony “inside” the game of the SCA. They are meant to be a representative of the Crown (king or queen) within the barony. The Baron supports our group by holding court at events, presenting awards, being an example of the Society's values of chivalry, and providing inspiration for members of the barony. 

There is often more than one sitting Baron/Baroness at a time. In cases where there are two people on the baronial thrones, they work together as a team to help inspire and organize the members of the barony. You can often recognize the Baron because they wear the official baronial coronet of Loch Salann.

You can talk to the Baron if you want to: 

• Propose an idea for a baronial event/activity

• Volunteer to help within the barony

• Recommend someone for an award or recognition 

Royal Vox

The “Vox” (Latin for “voice”) Herald of the barony presents the baron to the king and queen during royal court and runs baronial courts. They are the sort of hosts of the show that is baronial court. They are responsible for organizing the various presentations of a court and making proclamations on behalf of the baron themself.

You can talk to the Voice Herald if you want to: 

• Help out with court proceedings 

• Make a presentation or announcement during court

• Practice being a voice herald
