Archery Practice

Archery Practice is held every Thursday from 6:00 PM until approximately 8:00 PM. Join the archers of Loch Salann as they hone their skill with bow and arrow. The Barony has loaner gear for the use of newcomers. Archers are encouraged to purchase their own gear as soon as possible.

Summer Practice Range beginning May 3rd
2741 West 8600 South
West Valley, Utah
Enter through the gate beside the garage and proceed to the back of the property to reach the archery / thrown weapons range.
Please do not park in the owners driveway so they may have access to their garage and vehicles. Be mindful of the friendly dogs in the back yard and be certain to close all gates you pass through so the dogs don't get out of the yard.

Greetings Archers!!!

Please remember that we have moved to our outdoor range at 2741 West 8400 South, West Jordan at our regular scheduled time of 6pm. Also please note that this is someone's house we are meeting at, please do not park in the driveway, and respect the neighbors driveways also please. To get to the range, enter the gate on the right side of the house, and continue straight back thru the next gate, thru which is the range.

Thank you to all that helped with the clean up, it went miraculously quickly (2 hrs 15 mins) and a wonderful job was accomplished.

Below you will find the schedule of shoots as they have been laid out. The shoots located in Toole, will be at Thier Excellencies Keep, (Directions are below) and there is talk of carpooling being available. Please join us at the practices the week before to make arrangements, if you wish to catch a ride.

This is what I have planned for our Thursday outdoor practices-

For those that have yet to do a Full York shoot, it comprises 12 ends of 12 arrows at 60, 80, and 100 yrds, and is probably the most grueling shoot we do. It will be shot in the field across the street from Thier Excellencies Keep.

Here are the directions to the Toole range site.Going west on I80, exit on the Tooele exit, #99. Go about 6.5 miles and the stop light will be Erda Way. It's easy to spot because there is an actual drive in movie on the left and Virg's restaurant (Erda Center) on the right.
Go left (east) on Erda Way for 1 mile to Droubay Road. Turn right (south) for about 1.5 miles, until you cross the railroad tracks.Take the first left (east) and the first right(south). You will be on Mountain Glen Road. Ours is the second house on the right and the only one with a barn. Looking forward to seeing all outside at the ranges!!

Archery Range Clean up and setup (Save the date, April 29th)

After speaking with our Archery Captain, Francisco, it sounds like the range clean up and setup will be the 29th, and (assuming this happens) the first day outside will be the 3rd. We did not discuss a start time for the cleanup (probably early morning) and he should be posting more information soon.

His Excellency Bjorn has the hay we will be using, and may need assistance loading them into a vehicle in Tooele (this was not specified, so I will let him reply if this is the case).

Hopefully we will have more information solidified and distributed after archery Tomorrow.

Greetings Archers,

A new Society-wide series of shoots is being developed with the aim to provide an opportunity to practice different types of shoots and compare your results with others in the Knowne World. There are no prizes or awards associated with these shoots and are intended solely for the enjoyment of those chosing to participate.

There will be a new shoot developed every three months and the results will be available on the Scores Website (assuming the scores are reported to me so that I can post them).

The first shoot will be similar to one put on by Baron Braden at Uprising last year. A series of metal loops, of decreasing size, shot from 25 yards.

For a complete description of the shoot follow this link: http://www.scores-sca.org/public/scores_rules.php?R=25&Shoot=94

To submit scores for the shoot just email them to me and I will get them posted in a timely manner otterness AT altamistalpacas DOT com.

Baron Bjorn Hrafnsson, OL
